CG 2022-Wrapup-meeting

With Christmas just around the corner, today was the EBU Coordination Group’s last meeting for 2022. It saw the elaboration of new exciting topics coming towards EBU in 2023, with the most essential being the next EBU Scientific Forum, taking place next September in Vienna, for which the planning is in full motion and it is already shaping up to be a great event. This meeting also wrapped up 2022, a very eventful year.

The last twelve months have seen the EBU starts a lot of firsts and move further towards greater recognition. FOEBE (FOEBE 2022) and the EBU student journey (EBU Journey 2022) welcomed their first cohorts of students to advance and boost their knowledge in the Bioeconomy field, and the projects have already started to recruit new students for next year (the applications for the EBU student journey are still open!). Collaborations have been fostered with our new partners, such as EFI, BIOeast, European Bioplastics, SGGW and SLU.

Through Evelyn Reinmuth, EBU experienced a push in visibility by participating in the Startup Hub and delivering a vision statement supporting the European Commission’s Startup Village Initiative further; and, finally, EBU celebrated the first successful handover of presidencies.

After a successful launch of the Alliance, headed by the University of Hohenheim, the leadership has now safely been transferred to BOKU to steer the EBU into the future, with a new secretary taking the wheel. The CG, therefore, welcomed Damiano Cilio as the new coordinator for the EBU presidency today and bid farewell to his predecessor, Robin Ganser from the University of Hohenheim.

After such an eventful year the Coordination Group is looking forward to a relaxed transition into 2023. In doing so, the group wishes happy holidays and a very happy new year to everyone!
