European Bioeconomy Scientific Forum 2023

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), as the chair of the European Bioeconomy University Alliance (EBU) for 2023-2024, welcomed all interest parties to Vienna, Austria for the European Bioeconomy Scientific Forum 2023EBSF2023 on the 6-8 September 2023.

The European Bioeconomy Scientific Forum is the biannual official event of all European Bioeconomy University Alliance’s (EBU) representatives and, for this edition, the event focused on “Moving towards the transformation”.

Under the theme “Moving towards the transformation”, the objective of this scientific forum was to promote the transformation towards a sustainable bioeconomy. The event brought together scientists, experts, policymakers, industry representatives, youth and other stakeholders from across Europe to share experiences, discuss challenges, and identify opportunities for advancing the bioeconomy transformation and contributing to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.


Event Organiser

As the university currently chairing the Presidency of EBU, the event was hosted by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna – BOKU and took place in the university campus Türkenschanze. The Centre for Bioeconomy of BOKU, on behalf of BOKU’s Rectorate and with the support of the EBU Coordination Group, was responsible for the organisation of the event.

Green Event

The EBSF2023 was organised according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings and Green Events. Many visible and many invisible measures were implemented before, during and after the event, which was also possible thanks to the engagemenet and support of the participants.
